Foundayo vs Wegovy
Foundayo and Wegovy hold the closest pair of approvals in this category: both are GLP-1 receptor agonists approved for chronic weight management. One is a once-daily tablet of orforglipron, the other a once-weekly injection of semaglutide, and their labels diverge in reach: Wegovy covers cardiovascular risk and patients from age 12, Foundayo covers adults. This page compares the two documents.

Where the documents part ways
Wegovy reaches further in two directions: its label adds reducing the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in adults with established cardiovascular disease and either obesity or overweight, and it covers pediatric patients aged 12 and older with obesity. The Foundayo label covers adults and carries no cardiovascular indication.
The route differs in kind: Foundayo is a tablet taken once daily with or without food; Wegovy is injected subcutaneously once weekly, with a maintenance dosage in adults of 2.4 mg or 1.7 mg.
The warnings read as one class
Both carry the boxed warning on thyroid C-cell tumors observed in rodents, with the contraindication for a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2. Each label warns against combining its product with another GLP-1 receptor agonist, which rules out taking the two together.
What this page does not tell you
It does not rank the two products. They were approved on separate trial programs that were not designed to compare them, and reading trial numbers across the two labels as a ranking would misrepresent the evidence. The choice of treatment belongs to a prescriber.
Common questions
- Is Foundayo an oral form of Wegovy?
- No. Foundayo contains orforglipron and Wegovy contains semaglutide - different molecules under different approvals. They share the drug class and the approved use, not the ingredient.
- Which one is approved for teenagers?
- Wegovy: its label includes pediatric patients aged 12 and older with obesity. The Foundayo label covers adults.
- Can Foundayo and Wegovy be taken together?
- Both labels state that use with another GLP-1 receptor agonist is not recommended, which covers this combination.
